McShane Construction Company was selected by The University of Chicago to provide comprehensive design/build services for its 86,616 square foot, LEED-Gold Facilities Services Building located in Chicago, Illinois.

The two-story build-to-suit incorporates a variety of support spaces including offices, shop and inventory areas serving the University’s Facilities Services Department. The facility features a sizable warehouse boasting a 24′ clear height, drive-in doors and one depressed dock together with an outfitted office component complete with conference rooms, locker rooms and an employee breakroom.

Numerous sustainable features were incorporated throughout the interior and exterior of the building such as a green roof, low VOC finishes, a geothermal heating and cooling system, permeable pavers and electric car charging stations for fleet vehicles.
