Construction Begins on Legends of Covington

McShane Construction Company has begun construction on Legends of Covington, a new affordable, 55+ senior living residence in Covington, Georgia for client, Dominium.

“By the end of the year, the entire baby boomer generation will fall into the 55+ category,” remarked Scott Hoppa, Senior Vice President of McShane’s Southeast region. “As this generation makes up nearly 40 percent of the nation’s population, demand for senior living residences is going to continue to rise, making Legends of Covington a valuable asset for the city.”

McShane was brought on by Dominium at the permitting stage of the project which enabled them to go through final design meetings and pricing before beginning construction. By getting involved early, McShane was able to implement pre-construction services and provide feedback on any inconsistencies that could result in increased cost or time delays.

The 198-unit residence will be situated on 13 acres of land at the corner of Clark Street and Turner Lake Road in Covington. Tenants will be able to choose from several floor plan options incorporating one to three bedrooms with one, one-and-a-half or two bathrooms. All units will integrate luxury vinyl tile flooring, carpeted bedrooms and granite countertops. The building will feature wood frame construction with brick and cement siding.

Residents will have access to abundant indoor amenities including a hair salon, library, laundry room, theater room, fitness room and storage space. They will also be able to enjoy the grounds of the property, which will feature a pergola and grilling area. Additionally, the property will contain a surface-level parking lot with 208 spaces.

Positioned less than a mile from US Route 278 and I-20, residents will have easy access to surrounding areas, including Downtown Atlanta, which is less than 40 minutes via I-20. Additionally, tenants will be just minutes from a wide array of amenities, such as restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores and churches.

The architect of record for Legends of Covington is Martin Riley Associates. Completion of the project is expected in February 2021.
