The mixed-use structure will incorporate space for retail and offer affordable housing units

Joint Venture Breaks Ground on New Mixed-Use Building in Bronzeville Neighborhood

The joint venture team of McShane Construction Company and UJAMAA Construction is pleased to announce they have broken ground on 4400 Grove, a highly anticipated mixed-use development from Brinshore Development and The Michaels Organization.

The exciting new project will combine retail and residential in the heart of Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood. Commercial space will be located on the ground floor, and the project will rise to four stories. Phase One will create 84 rental units by May of 2020. Twenty-one of the units will be reserved for Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) residents, 34 units will be affordable at 60 percent of Area Median Income (AMI) and the remaining 29 units will be offered at market rate.

Resident amenities will include a lounge, bike room, fitness/yoga room, conference rooms and a mailroom. There will be on-site parking, including dedicated retail spaces.

“We are excited that construction has started on our newest mixed-use assignment,” remarked Jeff Raday, President of McShane Construction. “Working with Brinshore and Michaels in the past has been a great experience. We are really looking forward to help provide the people of Chicago affordable housing options, and entrepreneurs access to retail space.”
